Coronavirus Update Monday, April 6th, 2020

The Rapid City Council met on Monday, April 6, 2020 for their regularly scheduled council meeting.

Two items on the agenda which was a main focus for this evening’s meeting was to vote upon the second reading of an amendment made which allows the Rapid City council to have the flexibility to make any changes on the ordinance placed to close non-essential businesses eliminating the 5 day delay for imposition of additional emergency measures that they deem necessary. The motion passed to put this into place.

The second item of interest was to determine whether or not the closures of non-essential businesses should remain in effect beyond the April 8th expiration date. It was decided upon that they would extend this for another two weeks setting the expiration date to Wednesday, April 22nd. This will be reviewed and discussed at the next council meeting scheduled for Monday, April 20th where a vote will take place to decide whether or not these closures will be lifted or extended once again.

Thank you.
